Lisa Robinson, Auxiliary Unit President, goes up on the Legion roof and raises over $30,000 in donations for our troops. With the help of the
Clinton Heights Fire Department, and with warm clothes and a tent, Lisa climbs to the roof at 9am on a cold, windy Saturday vowing not to come down until a
trailer is filled with donation of items that can be used by our troops and a large container is filled with money. Thanks to a generous public and good local
media coverage (and some national) she was back on the ground in 3 days!
Robert Thibault, our deceased County and District Advisor, was a Chief Petty Officer in the US Coast Guard. In his will he left a $2000 donation to the
Slater Foundation. At a meeting of the Rensselaer County Sons, we voted to add a donation of $150.
There was a great turnout at the East Greenbush VFW on Hays Rd.
Guests played yard games and enjoyed the entertainment.
Working the donations table are Anne & Kevin Harrington and Vicki & Todd Wiley.
Legion Auxiliary Unit member Francine Kroll sold lots of raffle tickets and
the sponsors donated many
great prizes. Winners were announced by
Francine Froll and Legion Auxiliary Unit President Lisa Robinson.
American Legion Post Commander Todd Wiley "Turn(ed) The Page"
and Don Essinter, VFW Post Commander spoke.
Sons member Mike Schwind did all the cooking. Other Sons members in attendance:

May 25, 2006 For the second year, we thank the Scouts for their assistance in putting U.S. Flags on our veteran's graves and we were glad to treat them to pizza and soda after.
Unfortunately, we have no photos from this year, but everyone there wrote their name and we are posting the list here:

(1903-2003)
will always be remembered for all the many Christmas Holidays he gave up being with his family so he could be with the American Military personnel in all parts
of the world. He brought cheer and laughter to young men and women in dangerous places, in all sorts of weather, on the battle field and in the hospitals.
As an entertainer, he received more awards than any other, as a human being, he is the only one to be named by the U.S. President as an Honorary Veteran.
We will all miss him.
