Why We Exist
(Short Answer)

Posted 5/31/01, Last Update 12/29/05

Charter and Charter Members The Sons of The American Legion was created by The American Legion in 1932 to support Legion Programs. We are one of thousands of local groups called squadrons.

Melvin Roads Squadron was re-chartered in 1977 and has been active since. (There was a squadron in the 60ies also.) We have had over 100 members for many years. Our function is to support our sponsering post.

Past National S.A.L. Commander from NY, Chris Cerullo has said; "It is our job to see that the Legion never ends up on a library shelf".

What We Do

This section is intended to provide a sample of the Programs and Activities. Some are general and may be done by many squadrons, others may be unique to our squadron.
